In this problem you will compare the decimal representations of the fractions [math]1/2[/math] and [math]3/4[/math].

Two circles, Circle A and Circle B, are shown below. The circles are equal size. Circle A is divided into 2 sections of equal size. Circle B is divided into 4 sections of equal size. You can use the circles to help you solve the problems.

Write a fraction with a denominator of 4 that is equivalent to [math]1/2[/math]. Use the circles to explain why the fractions are equivalent.

Write [math]1/2[/math] as a decimal. Then write [math]3/4[/math] as a decimal. Explain how you can use the circles to compare the decimals.
