That said, these days it can feel more challenging than ever. Surveys show moms are still generally expected to handle <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/05\/upshot\/stressed-tired-rushed-a-portrait-of-the-modern-family.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most chores around the home<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, even when both spouses have full-time jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With so much to do, moms often put their own needs last, but it&#8217;s not okay to neglect self-care. On the contrary, attending to your own needs is essential. If you don\u2019t take care of yourself, you won\u2019t be able to take care of others in the long run.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s why busy moms should keep the following self-care<\/span> tips in mind. When you\u2019re in the middle of a busy week, it becomes easy to forget about self-care if it\u2019s not treated with the same priority as your other major responsibilities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make a point of scheduling self-care activities every week. Doing so makes you more likely to actually find time for them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><b>Exercise with Friends<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staying fit is key to self-care. Experts consistently find that working out is simply one of the healthiest and most effective ways to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/healthy-lifestyle\/stress-management\/in-depth\/exercise-and-stress\/art-20044469\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduce stress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in your life.&nbsp;So is spending time with friends. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t think you have time for both activities in a typical week, you can combine them by working out with a friend or family member. This is a simple way to optimize your self-care routine when you have a busy schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><b>Choose Playlists Wisely<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You probably have many weekly tasks that give you the opportunity to listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks. Whether you\u2019re driving or prepping a meal, use this time wisely.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Studies show that listening to music you enjoy helps&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/psychcentral.com\/lib\/the-power-of-music-to-reduce-stress\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduce stress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Additionally, learning about interesting topics can also yield major mental health benefits. The main point to remember is that you shouldn\u2019t choose what you listen to randomly. You\u2019re much better off getting a full eight hours every night.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><b>Ask for Help<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You also shouldn\u2019t give in to the urge to be Supermom.&nbsp;You&#8217;re&nbsp;human, and that means you may need some help from time to time. Getting comfortable with asking for help will&nbsp;make it easier to find more time for self-care<\/span>. Whether it\u2019s a spouse, friend, or another family member<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there\u2019s a good chance someone in your life can take on a few of your responsibilities when you\u2019re simply too busy to handle everything on your plate. You can also look for ways to reduce your workload, such as having meals delivered instead of prepping them yourself all of the time.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to be a good mother, partner, and employee, you need to be as mentally and physically healthy as possible.
