Would you ask a first grade student to describe the properties of a triangle, but not allow her to draw one? Test a geometry student&#8217;s understanding of the relationship between parallel lines and transversals, but provide no visual model for the question? Ask an algebra student to solve a quadratic equation, but never have him plot one on a graph? Math questions with graphics allow students to comprehend mathematical concepts more quickly and more completely than those without images.<\/p>\n<p>Help Teaching maintains a database of hundreds of graphics that directly support <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corestandards.org\/Math\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Common Core math standards<\/a>. So whether you are introducing kindergartners to counting or high school students to the Law of Sines, here are some suggestions on how to incorporate images into your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/common-core-math-worksheets.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">standards aligned math questions or worksheets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 580px; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 0.8em; color: #333;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\" valign=\"top\" width=\"100\"><img style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\" alt=\"Fraction\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/imgs\/Fractions\/100x100\/circle-2-3.png\" width=\"80\"><\/td>\n<td style=\"padding: 5px 0 0 10px;\" valign=\"top\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/questions\/images.htm?category=Fractions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visual Fraction Models<\/a> support a range of grade one to six standards in the Geometry, Numbers &amp; Operations \u2013 Fractions, and Number System domains. Students can develop an understanding of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/tests\/252047\/halves-thirds-and-fourths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">equal shares<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/tests\/255916\/equivalent-fractions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fraction equivalence<\/a> by comparing shaded models while older students can use models to hone critical thinking skills by solving <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/tests\/255935\/fraction-word-problems--addition-and-subtraction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">real world problems<\/a>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\" valign=\"top\" width=\"100\"><img style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\" alt=\"1000 Block\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/imgs\/Base_Ten_Blocks\/200x200\/1000-cube-of-cubes.png\" width=\"80\"><\/td>\n<td style=\"padding: 5px 0 0 10px;\" valign=\"top\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/questions\/images.htm?category=Base_Ten_Blocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Base Ten Blocks<\/a> provide a visual representation of place value and support Number &amp; Operations in Base Ten domain standards for kindergarten through grade five. Base ten blocks can be used to represent ones, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpteaching.com\/tests\/252034\/place-value--tens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tens<\/a>, hundreds, and thousands and build up to illustrating multi-digit arithmetic.
