Grade 8 Supreme Court Cases

This case established the principle of judicial review, the power of the court to nullify unconstitutional laws. It came about when John Adams signed commissions for 42 federal judges, on his final day in office. However, Thomas Jefferson, opted to not deliver most of the commissions and one of the appointees sued the new secretary of state, to force the delivery of his commission.
