The first meta-analysis of all published research on autism and gastrointestinal symptoms shows that
- There is no coorelation between autism spectrum disorders and gastrointestinal disorders.
- GI disorders are four times more common among children with autism than among other children
- Children with autism don't indicate that they have abdominal pain.
- There is a greater incidence of abdominal pain in children with ASD, but it is not related to behavioral issues.
