Symmetry Cut-and-Fold Answer Key

Instructions: A line of symmetry is a line that divides an image in half creating halves that are reflections of each other. Folding the image along a line of symmetry matches both halves exactly. Some images may have several lines of symmetry and other images may have no lines of symmetry.

Cut out each shape below. Next, fold each shape to find as many lines of symmetry as possible. Finally, write the number of lines of symmetry for each shape in the spaces provided.

How many lines of symmetry does each shape have?

Regular Octagon 8
Square 4
Rectangle 2
Regular Hexagon 6
Isosceles Triangle 1
