Mario couldn't stop pacing. Back and forth, he walked. He would go to the curtain, peer out, and then go right back to pacing.

The audience was slowly pouring into the grand hall. Mario could hear them as they took their seats. Some were anxious, some were annoyed at the wait, but all were there to see the Morgane Theatre's adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Mario's theatre group had been rehearsing for months, but Mario had just been added on two weeks before the first show. The actor playing the part of Puck had quit. Mario was the understudy, so he had to go on.

Now, the night of the show, Mario found himself uneasy. He continued to pace and felt his heart quicken. All his lines of dialogue disappeared from his mind.

He tried to sit. He tried to relax, but the sounds of the crowd got louder and louder. He was uncomfortable anywhere his pacing led him backstage. He had ants in his pants.

As the actors started to buzz backstage, he realized this was it. There was no turning back now. That's when Mario realized that he was the only one backstage that was anxious. Everyone else walked around and was not affected by the audience. Mario was a fish out of water. He decided to put the fear aside. Just as he made that decision, all of the lines came flooding back to him.
