I never thought it would happen to me. Nevertheless, it did! I saw a UFO!
I'd read lots and lots of books about UFOs, but my parents told me there was no such thing as aliens. Then, late one night when I was reading a book about UFOs in my room, I saw a bright light outside. I looked out of the window and saw a big circle with ten lights. A door opened, and a little green man came out.
“Greetings!” he said to me. “I come in peace.”
“You… you… you’re real!!!” I exclaimed.
“Of course, I am,” said the alien. “I’d like to ask you a favor. Do you have a sweatshirt I can borrow? It’s very cold in my spaceship.”
“Here,” I said, handing him my favorite blue hoodie.
“Thank you,” he said. “Here’s a thank you gift. It’s a piece of my planet.”
The alien handed me a bright orange rock. The spaceship flew off into the sky. The next morning when I told my mother what happened, she wouldn’t believe me.
What is the best closing sentence for this story?
“You’re just trying to make an excuse for losing your sweatshirt!” she said.
“Wow!” said my mother. “I wish I had seen that!”
“I believe every word you’ve said, Son,” said my mother.
“Your books are right,” said my mother. “There are aliens!”
