Deep in a lake in Scotland lives Nessie.

Nessie is a giant creature. Legend says Nessie is over 100-feet long. The body of Nessie looks like a cross between a dinosaur and a snake.

Nessie is very mysterious. For years, fishermen have hunted for Nessie. They call Nessie the Loch Ness Monster. The name comes from the lake Nessie lives in (Loch Ness) and the monstrous size.

No one has ever caught Nessie, but since the 6th century, people have claimed to have seen Nessie. The first person to claim to see Nessie was an Irish monk. The most famous person to claim to see Nessie was Dr. Robert Kenneth Wilson. He saw Nessie in 1934. He even got a blurry picture of the monster. This picture made other people want to go look for Nessie too.

Today, many people claim that they have seen Nessie. A few even have blurry pictures of their own. Still, no one has been able to capture the monster at the bottom of the sea. Until they do, we will never know whether Nessie is real.
