When food is consumed it must be digested. There are 20 steps in the                     digestive process                    .

Step one of the digestive process is the         mouth        , which aids in the digestive process.

The              Oropharynx              is the second step.
The third, forth, and fifth steps are the                  Laryngopharynx                 ,            Esophagus            , and Cardioesophageal Sphincter.
Once the food has gone through each of these steps, it will go to step six which is the           stomach          , where it will continue to aid in digestion by mixing the        food       ,           liquids          , and                    digestive juices                   .
Steps eight, nine, and ten take place in the                   small Intestine                  . They are the            duodenum           ,           jejunum          , and         Ileum         where the food is exposed to secretions. The body takes in the nutrients from the food which is know as              absorbtion             .
Steps eleven through sixteen are when the food passes through the                   ileocecal valve                   and         cecum        , then ascends the         colon         where fluids and electrolytes are absorbed. The food then travels through the           hepatic          ,              transverse             , and           splenic           flexures.
When the food has passed through the flexures, it then goes through steps seventeen through twenty. The food decends the         colon        , travels through the                 sigmoid colon                 and into the          rectum          and stored until it is excreted out of the        anus       .
